Washington and Lee University

Campus Life

Washington and Lee students enjoy talking about what makes W&L special: the "speaking tradition," our Honor System, small and interesting classes, faculty and staff who know students by name, the friends they know they'll have for a lifetime. Then they'll talk about all the things that interest them outside of class: concerts, sports, Greek life, student organizations, community service opportunities.

A Washington and Lee education extends far beyond the classroom, to a campus life which is vibrant and varied. From the moment that first-year students set foot on campus to the revelry and reminiscences of Senior Night, it's a full four years.

Student Affairs staff provide guidance and resources that support students in the development of intellectual and personal skills appropriate for leading and serving in a global society. Our programs and services reflect the importance of honor, the speaking tradition, harmonious relationships among students, faculty, and staff; personal and social responsibility and respect for the University. Additionally, programs promote active engagement in community, cooperative decision-making, creativity, multiculturalism, and physical, emotional, and spiritual wellness. We are committed to helping students grow as unique individuals and respect what is unique in others.
